Chickenbone John is Smethwick’s king of the Cigar Box Guitar, delivering raw, pure blues! Chickenbone John has been playing and making cigar box guitars for over 10 years. He made his first guitar at the age of 14, played in a punk band back in the ’70s and had a record played on John Peel’s Radio 1 show. In more recent years, John has organised the UK cigar box guitar festival – the centre of a whole new home-grown music phenomenon, and taught Cigar Box Guitar “Make and Play” workshops to thousands of people, all whilst continuing to gig and play at venues across the country!
